Rishi Valley Rural Health Center Project
Imagine having to make a half day trip to the doctor’s office when you are a daily wage worker earning under $1 a day! Unfortunately, there are millions of people faced with this challenge in rural India.
In partnership with the Rishi Valley Rural Health Center, a non-profit health center in the state of Andhra Pradesh, we have enabled a team of nurses to facilitate consultations with doctors for patients who have chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. The team visits remote villages, performs diagnostic tests and conducts video consultations right from the patient’s home with the doctor, thus saving the patient the trouble of making the long trip to the doctor’s office.
As a part of this program over 10,000 people in approximately 100 villages will be covered.
Chataparru Project
Cancer has been on the rise in coastal Andhra. It is a growing epidemic and needs to be addressed.
In partnership with the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, we conducted a cancer screening camp in Chataparru village. X-rays, Ultrasounds, Mammograms, and Pap tests were performed at the camp. More importantly, this preventive care program spread awareness, helped with early diagnosis and aided in the fight against the growing cancer epidemic.
As a part of this program over 23,000 people were covered in Chataparru and its surrounding villages. To learn more about the screening camp, visit our blog and gallery.
Additional screening camps will be conducted in Chataparru in the future, so check back for updates.
